Product Description
ELETTRACQUA's Dual-Chamber Thermocompression (DCT) technology provides an energy-efficient solution for producing Water for Injection (WFI). Unlike conventional systems, it mechanically compresses pure steam, allowing it to be reused as the heating source for continuous evaporation while significantly reducing energy consumption.
The system features two completely independent circuits: one dedicated to WFI production and another for energy recovery. This design ensures that pure steam never comes into contact with the mechanical compressor, eliminating the risk of product contamination while maintaining full cGMP compliance. An integrated Cyclone Steam Separator further enhances steam purity by efficiently removing entrained water droplets before condensation.
Originally developed for demanding industrial applications, ELETTRACQUA's thermocompression technology has been optimized for the pharmaceutical industry, delivering reliable WFI production, high energy efficiency, and consistent performance.
Main Features and Benefits
- No risk of product contamination thanks to a completely independent secondary circuit that isolates the mechanical compressor from the WFI production process
- Sterile, pyrogen-free distillate achieved through a high distillation temperature of 125°C (257°F) and extended feedwater residence time within the evaporation chamber
- Pressurized WFI outlet (approximately 0.6 bar) eliminates the need for an additional transfer pump in many applications
- Self-sterilization capability at 121°C (250°F), including connected peripheral equipment
- Simultaneous pure steam generation available during the distillation process
- Flexible heating options, including plant steam, hot water, or electric heating
- Configurable heat exchanger design, with welded plate or tubular heat exchanger options for the evaporation column
- Production capacities ranging from 100 to 6,000 L/h, supporting applications from pilot-scale systems to large pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities
