Product Description
ELETTRACQUA Multiple-Effect Distillation (MED) systems are engineered to produce Water for Injection (WFI) in full compliance with current pharmaceutical regulations.
The system consists of multiple evaporation columns, each equipped with liquid separation stages and a final condensation section to ensure consistently high-purity water production.
To maximize energy efficiency, an additional DTS sanitary heat exchanger recovers heat from the condensate and transfers sensible heat to the incoming feed water, significantly reducing steam consumption and operating costs.
The evaporation columns operate in series. Plant steam is supplied only to the first effect, while the pure steam generated in each subsequent effect serves as the heating medium for the next stage, optimizing thermal efficiency throughout the process.
Efficient steam separation is one of the most critical elements in producing pharmaceutical-grade Water for Injection.
ELETTRACQUA Multiple-Effect Distillation systems utilize an advanced Cyclone Steam Separation System installed directly within each evaporation column. Unlike conventional demister-based designs, the cyclone separator efficiently removes entrained water droplets from the pure steam before condensation.
How the Cyclone Separator Works
The Cyclone System separates liquid droplets from pure steam using two complementary principles:
- High-velocity centrifugal force rapidly separates entrained water droplets, directing them toward the outer wall of the separator where they are safely drained.
- Dual 180° steam flow reversal promotes gravity-assisted removal of larger droplets, further improving steam purity before condensation.
Designed for Pharmaceutical Compliance
Because the steam separator is a critical process component, ELETTRACQUA manufactures every cyclone separator to the highest pharmaceutical standards.
The cyclone separator is a fully hygienic device specifically engineered to meet the stringent requirements of pharmaceutical Water for Injection production.
All ELETTRACQUA Water for Injection (WFI) Systems and Pure Steam Generators (PSG) are equipped with Cyclone Steam Separation technology as standard in every evaporation column.
